Brandon Kapelow

Relying on his visualist background, Brandon strives to create symbiosis between camera and subject, merging a sensibility for naturalism with heightened aesthetics.

Raised in Wyoming and now based between Los Angeles and Vancouver, Brandon’s credits span work as a director, photographer and cinematographer. As a survivor of suicide loss at an early age, Brandon has a passion for exploring topics related to mental and physical health, which is his current focus as a Documentary Film Fellow at Columbia University’s DART Center.

Brandon is a winner of The One Club’s ‘Young Guns’ showcase, whose branded and nonfiction work has been recognized by Director’s Library, Short of the Week and the Berlin Commercial awards. His commercial credits include work for Amazon, Google, Meta, Verizon, Samsung, Goldenvoice, Vans, Ugg and New York State. His images and writing have been published in The New York Times, NPR, TIME Magazine and Magnum Photos. Outside of his creative practice, Brandon is a peer-support facilitator for SOLACE and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, where he serves on their Ethical Reporting Advisory Committee.
